
The Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) is a non-profit consumer organization conducting innovative programs in nutrition, alcohol policy, and food safety. CSPI publishes Nutrition Action Healthletter, the nation's largest-circulation health newsletter. CSPI strives to provide useful, impartial information to the public, represent citizens' interests before legislative, regulatory, and judicial bodies, and ensure that advances in science are used for the public's good. CSPI is seeking a Public-Interest Toxicologist. This is a full-time position reporting to the Executive Director. This person’s primary responsibility will be to evaluate the safety of additives and contaminants in foods and beverages and press for regulatory and legislative changes. The toxicologist will write reports, letters, and petitions to improve food safety.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. and expertise in evaluating toxicological studies. Experience (in nonprofits, academe, or government) in advocating for public health measures is essential. This position offers an exciting opportunity for an energetic, creative scientist dedicated to helping achieve a safer food supply.
